What would you have done differently - especially if you had more time?I shot some clips for the group movie. We don't have an absolute leader but we all share ideas and work together. I would make the video more delicate with more content and better visual experience if we had more time.

The current ECHO is really cool. And I suggest, maybe in the future, we can sit on an around table. So we can have our discussions easily. The class blog is very helpful, but currently I don't want to set up a personal blog for any purposes.

1. Looking back at the blog - what video's were most interesting to you?
For me.. The WRA in a minute video was perfect for this course. It made me think more about Reserve and all the greatness that surrounds me everyday. I thought all of the TED talk videos brought up crucial points that we may not think of often.
2. Looking back at your classmates videos and posts - which were most impressive and interesting?
Once again, Azzizs' video was very impressive. I found the paper plane video very cool as well.
3. What are three things that you will take away from this course? Why? Please elaborate
1. I was informed of a few new social media websites that I believe I can use in the future, and teach my peers about them.
2. I learned the importance of being able to edit movies effectively. This is a skill only few know how to do so the more valuable it is.
3. the importance of using social media smartly is key. I've heard it being stressed upon too many times for there to be no meaning to it. Everyone should be aware that Social media is a privilege and should treat it just as any other.
4. What was your contribution to your group's final movie? Who was a leader in your group? What would you have done differently - especially if you had more time?
I took pictures around campus both during our class time and during the school week. I sent those pictures to Jack for him to put into our clip. Jack was the leader is the group, as well as Anna. I would have prepared better by getting a better camera and using our time more productively.

I suggest we choose our groups based on prior idea's we had for the final project. Yes, the class blog was very entertaining and helpful in the sense that I never knew how to blog before now. No, I think the class blog was a good idea because we could compare answers to the various interesting prompts.

I really liked the dark humor videos. I also liked the inspirational such as the TED talks.

I was really impressed with the trailer for The Catcher and the Rye that Barnabas helped make. I thought that it was really well made and they spent a lot of time on it.

I am going to take away that technology is important and we all should learn how to properly use it.This class helped me rethink how I would present myself on the internet. I already knew that you have to watch what you put online but this class made me think about it more.
My favorite thing about this class was that it just made me think in general. I like thinking about things in genera l and some of the videos we watched made think about life in general.

Reflection on TSM Echo Module
Before the reflection starts I would like to say "thank you" to Mr. O'Brien and other faculties who have been in with us temporarily and shared their experiences and knowledge.
What we have learnt from this class:
1. Introduction to some major social networks that are currently popular right now as well as some rare but useful ones.
- most interesting one to me is Twitter. I opened a Twitter account a year ago but never use it until KOB convinced me (or, us) to start tweeting.
- many social media tools have their functions overlapping each other's. for example, Facebook allows you to post pictures of you and your friends and Instagram is designed for picture sharing while in the meantime Twitter is used mostly for sharing pictures like where people have been to, what kind of funny things they have seen and what they just bought from a store, etc. In another word, you don't have to use all of them. Maybe only one or two can keep you connected with the world.
- one thing interesting is that there is always a trend which the majority of people will switch from one social network to another when that "another" becomes popular. for instance, two years ago most of us are using Facebook as the major social media tool to keep connected with each other; later most of my friends made a switch to Twitter because Twitter is a much faster way to get news for you and keep you updated; now most of them are on Instagram
2. How people use social media and what are the appropriate ways of using them in our life.
- The initial purpose of social media is to keep people connected; however, most of people use social media more in a way of expressing themselves and building new relations.
- Make good choices of what to post and what to not post.
3. How social media impacts one's life.
- One could make more friends from social networks; however, in the same way, one can lose friends.
- One can keep getting the freshest news from social media as well as the trend of what is becoming popular.
- You can find useful information as well as useless information from social networks--it all depends on whom you follow on Twitter, what pages you like on Facebook, what types of people you are interacting with, etc.
- One can even commit to suicide due to the pressure he or she received from people online--the video which the girl committed to suicide after people from the internet cyber-bullied her. Again: make good choice of whom you are connecting with online.
- Do NOT post anything that could make people concern about your character and personality. It is important to remember that you can never completely remove what you have posted online. Especially for high school students: college admission officers are likely going to look at your social network pages during the admission process as part of their evaluation on you.
4. About filming short videos: Even I did not fully enjoy such a project, still I think it is fun to do because:
- It is cool to do something new--something you never have done in your previous life
- A good learning of new skills such as thinking creatively, acting like a real actor, presenting the idea clearly during every single part the project and editing the footages into a completed video.
- A good practice of working as a team: you have to deal with different voices and try to get everybody agreed with one same idea; you have to make a plan and arrange times that are suitable to everyone's schedule--it is very challenging to consist everything; also you have to dedicate yourself into the team even something does not go as the way you personally expected.
CONCLUSION
It is the first year Western Reserve Academy conducting Echo Module Programs instead of following the old school schedule and giving regular classes on Saturday. Although not much people were looking forward to such a program, it seems to be great so far as it goes. Like the other modules, TSM gives students a vast of knowledge about how social media are changing the society both positively and negatively as well as the unique experience of filming and editing videos. While the regular academic courses are giving us normal college preparatory classes, Echo Module gives us useful additional knowledge in different fields. It is worth to explore something we might have ignored but have been impacted in our lives. It is a great experience and I hope there will be more interesting modules next year.
Again, muchas gracias to KOB and other faculties who have been sharing their knowledge and experience with us. It was great to learn unique things that are close to our everyday life.

1. Looking back at the blog - what video's were most interesting to you?
The video of Sir Ken Robinson's TED talk. It really made me think about whether or not the current system of schooling is the correct one. I had never really questioned the system before.
2. Looking back at your classmates videos and posts - which were most impressive and interesting?
I really liked Andrew's ski video. It was really funny. I also liked Molly's cricket video. It ripped out my heart strings and did a dance on them.
3. What are three things that you will take away from this course? Why? Please elaborate.
I will take away the idea that coding is a good idea, and we should learn it as we look for jobs. I also will take away the idea that the internet is more than just fun and games. It can be used to learn in ways that a teacher could never teach. Lastly, I will take with me an open-mindedness about technology. I now understand that technology is part of our lives and will be for ever. It can be used to make some pretty cool things.
4. What was your contribution to your group's final movie? Who was a leader in your group? What would you have done differently - especially if you had more time?
I was an actor in my groups final movie, most notably as a pile of clothes Charnley washed. Charnley was definitely a leader in the group, he sent out the e-mails asking to fim and decided what we would film. I would have started filming earlier -though not for lack of trying- since my group did not to actually film until very late in the allotted time. I also would have given the movie a more sense of a plot.
5. What are three links you wish to promote and why? How can social media be a tool for social good?
I would love to promote CGP Grey’s video on the difference between England and Great Britain, not only because it is very interesting, but also very easy to understand.
The next is a video by Hank Green, and I love this video simply because I love terrible jokes. They are easy to remember, ice-breakers that make even the most serious people giggle a little. I promote this video because it is the best video of terrible jokes to date.
The last video is one done by my favorite youtuber, Tobuscus. He completely encompasses the humor I like. While I may portray myself as a little more intelligent, I certainly laugh at all the things he does and laugh at him too.

I thought that the video that Joey posted "People Are Awesome" was totally wicked. It's incredible what people can do. It makes me think about how much time they would have to practice just to get that down perfect.

I also thought that the animation version of the Ted' sTalk was really interesting. It captured my interest and helped me understand it better than I would if it was just the guy talking. It was an interesting concept and pretty fascinating.
Lastly, I thought that the "Why Are We Here? Connection" video was a different viewpoint of life. Although it didn't make me ponder about why I'm here, it was refreshing and cute. A little moment away from the stress of the real world :)

I definitely have to give a shout out to Barnabus' and Jenny's video. It flows smoothly, and it doesn't seem like it was made my Reserve sophomores in the least. I can imagine that it did take over 20 hours to do that. That's some dedication.
Also to KOB's Harlem Shake video. I'm pretty jealous; I wanted to do one in one of my classes, but I couldn't. I think it's cool that KOB allowed that and on top of that he was pretty into it as well.
Finally, I loved the "Picture of the Day" that Azziz and his group took. Beautiful picture and beautiful place. The Victory Bell is a great symbol of Reserve and the picture clearly illustrated it's value.
3. What are three things that you will take away from this course? Why? Please elaborate.
I think I realize more about the negative aspects of having social media. For example, to the extent that colleges can track you-whether it's a private status or not and they also check who you are friends with to try and figure you out.
Also, to be extremely careful with what you post on the web; colleges (as mentioned before,) it can never be taken back, and I was shocked to hear about the Amanda Todd scenario. I was pretty surprised and disgusted. I think it's crazy how one mistake could ruin her life and cause her to commit suicide-and it was all through the web.
Lastly, I think that I will take back the Ted Talks. I think they raise interesting topics and viewpoints on how to deal with them. The people there address both past, current, and future problems and it's kind of fascinating. It's also nice that they have people from all different backgrounds come and speak.

I took a lot of photos/videos, and helped brainstorm events (to take pictures of,) and come up with the overall ideas. Unfortunately, only some of my pictures were in the final video because for some reason, my camera could not upload them onto the computer :( I think that the three main people in our group were myself, Anna B., and Barnabus. If we had more time our video would have definitely been much better. We would have had more diversity, more people contributing, and definitely better quality. Although, Jack put in a heroic effort at the end :p

I definitely think that social media can be both good and bad. It can be good because, in like these three videos, it can encourage, inspire, and get one to think more about important and broader topics. If one uses it right, social media can be really helpful and get you all the right places.

I definitely suggest giving us more time/headway on our final project. That would have given us the time to make our video much better. I think that our time was well spent and I was exposed to some stuff that I hadn't seen or realized before. I liked our class blog and do not think it's necessary to have an individual one.

The video that left the most impact on me was the self learning one that we saw today. How children that are considered behind from an educational standpoint, can learn difficult ideas all by themselves.

-Improvement of video editing skills.
- Awareness of many different forms of learning including use of videos and technology in schooling today. Due to many informative videos and the use of video ourselves.
-Use of social media for positive goals. However these goals are tainted by the negative affects that social media imposes of society today. These negatives revolve behind a form of bullying. Cyber- Bulling is very prominent in many social media aspects.

I think the calss blog was a good idea as with an own blod it will be hard to intergrate all the pupils work together. A class blog makes all the work accessible. Only thing i can recommend is give the final project the first week so people can generate ideas and team chemistry.
The video that left the most impact on me was the self learning one that we saw today. How children that are considered behind from an educational standpoint, can learn difficult ideas all by themselves.

I thought the Morgan leader video worked well and portraid the school in a good light. With some tweaking it could be really good.

-Improvement of video editing skills.
- Awareness of many different forms of learning including use of videos and technology in schooling today. Due to many informative videos and the use of video ourselves.
-Use of social media for positive goals. However these goals are tainted by the negative affects that social media imposes of society today. These negatives revolve behind a form of bullying. Cyber- Bulling is very prominent in many social media aspects.

"A Pep Talk from Kid President to You" was my favorite video posted on the blog. This is because what this child is saying is true. Especially when the message comes from someone so young, it makes you really want to believe.

The infographics are very interesting to see how people present them and how many different topics can be covered.

I helped film different views of WRA, ,downtown, and interviewed a couple of people. The film would have been longer and more interviews would have been included.

1. The videos that intrigued me the most were the funny ones and the ones that were informative about how the world today is advancing with the use of technology. One specifically that stuck to me, was the effects of technology on our generation. It interested me in how the progression of technology changes learning for later generations and how a gap is created between those who are perhaps not as integrated with the use of technology.
2. Of all the videos that were posted, my favorites were the one that Azziz made about Reserve, it was very nicely edited. Also the one Sarah and Zoe had made earlier about Reserve too, it was very well put together.
3. Three things I will take away from this class are:
- The different social networks available I can use, that I was not very informed about. Things such as Pinterest, and Twitter
- How technology affects the world. From all of the articles we read and videos we watched, many of them spoke about how people in different parts of the world are learning to use the technology we have to better their own societies
- Infographics- I had never heard of them and had no clue how to make them. I think they are a good visual representation of information.
4. I contributed by meeting with them from time to time and coming up with some ideas for the video, as well as being in the video itself. Charnley played the role of leader in our group, he was always initiating the conversations for as to when we should all meet and was organizing the ideas. If we had more time, I think I would’ve liked to change the basic idea of our video, and maybe a clearer theme as to what our video was supposed to be about.
5. Social media can be used for good by creating awareness about things most people don’t know about. Social media is the best way to reach a large audience, as a good portion of the world’s population uses it. Twitter especially is a great tool to trend change for the better.
The first link I would like to promote is a video about a teenage boy that throws a fit when his parents take his favorite video game away from him. I found it very entertaining and funny so I thought it would be a good video to share.
The second link I wish to share is a video that shows a man climbing to the top of a tower that is around 2000 feet above the ground. I found it interesting as to what some people have to do as part of their jobs. Also, how frightening of an experience it is to just watch him climb to the top of this tower.
The last link I wanted to share is a video I found very inspiring. It is about a man in the Olympics, and how things don’t go as planned for him. What inspired me was to how he continued on, as to how all people should in their own lives.
6. Teaching social media was a very interesting echo module in which I learned many new and different uses of technology. Some suggestions as to make this echo even more enjoyable than it was, would be to maybe have a greater variety of activities, as most of our time consisted of watching videos or reading different articles. I feel that the class blog was very helpful, it was an organized way to have all of our work in one consolidated place. I would have liked to create my own blog, it could’ve been an interesting experience.

1. The videos that I found the most interesting was the two short films we watched a couple weeks ago in class-- the short films we watched after valentines day of the guy with the paper airplanes and the professor speaking about his college girlfriend. I really enjoyed the latter video because I found the way she filmed interesting and I really liked the how she made it with voiceovers and shots of the teacher.
2. I really enjoyed Anna's post about where our food comes from (here is the link if you desire to read it: http://teachingsocialmediawraecho.blogspot.com/2013/02/where-does-our-food-come-from-why-care.html). I thought it provided good background information to the source of our food.
3. I will take away a deeper knowledge of the world wide web, how/why I should protect my accounts such as twitter and facebook as well as making them more "professional" in a sense, and finally, I will take away more experience of filming and editing videos.
4. I filmed scenes of our final movie and I was actually the assigned "leader" of the group, although it was more of a joint effort between Charnley and me. I would've had more planing and definitely more commitment to filming time--due to the little time we had, everyone in our group did not have coinciding schedules, causing us to not have much filming done.

- Social media can be a tool for social good because it can make people more aware, help people become noticed, and also help people learn skills such as how to play instruments or tie a tie.
6. For the future TSM echos, I think that the final project should be introduced earlier in the echo classes, the small amount of time made it hard for us to plan. As well as this, I think there should be an assigned topic or at least a couple specific options to choose from because it was hard to plan because we weren't sure what we were doing. Possibly allow us to pick our own groups, since everyone was different ages and not really friends it was hard for our schedules to match up and more awkward to communicate.

1. Looking back at the blog - what video's were most interesting to you?
As I looked back at the blog, I found the video of Sir Ken Robinson's animation/talk about changing education paradigms very interesting. He makes a good point about how schools are set up like factories, in which people are sent through schools according to their age, not their talent levels. However, schools haven't changed from this set-up and they probably won't any time soon either. This is an interesting, thought-provoking video though, which is why I liked it.
2. Looking back at your classmates videos and posts - which were most impressive and interesting?
This course introduced info-graphics to me, so I liked looking at what people created with those interesting images. I really enjoyed the group projects at the end of this echo module because of the different ideas and approaches to a project. The drive-by shots of WRA in one group's video was a nice touch as well.
3. What are three things that you will take away from this course? Why? Please elaborate.
I will take away these three things from this course:
1. I now have the new skill of making info-graphics, which will help me better display information visually in future projects.
2. I received a glimpse of editing videos from different projects in this course.
3. I now know the importance of computer coding in our modern world. This skill will become more and more prevalent in the future.
4. What was your contribution to your group's final movie? Who was a leader in your group? What would you have done differently - especially if you had more time?
I was an actor in my group's final movie, and I had a spotlight in the closing seconds of the movie with my wink. Our group was mainly led by Charnley, who orchestrated much of the acting. If we had more time, we probably would have developed more of an obvious plot within our movie.
5. What are three links you wish to promote and why? How can social media be a tool for social good?
I want to promote this video because of the awesome things that people can do. It compiles a bunch of clips of random, seemingly average, performing amazing stunts. This video just shows how anyone with determination can accomplish a great feat.
This video is more of a funny video that went viral, but I think it's a great video because of the link it creates between generations, especially in the scene with Uncle Drew and Bill Russell. Though this may be a stretch, the video shows how age is nothing but a number. Therefore, older people are able to keep up with the "youngbloods," as Uncle Drew sometimes says.
This is a moving video about an organization that uses social media for social good. I'll let the video speak for itself because I feel I won't do the video justice with an inadequate description.

I think our groups could have been established in the beginning of the course, so we all knew who we were going to work with for the end project. It was helpful to me to have one blog where everything was located, which might not happen if each student had their own blog.
